Friends Like Us is such a heartwarming and enchanting tale about the special bonds of friendship. I loved the real life situations and struggles, but also romance, love, friendships and fun.
Bree Rhodes and Jill Kelly have been best friends since kindergarten. When Bree survives a cancer scare, the knitting shop assistant takes it as a sign to step out of her comfort zone . . . or at least take a few tentative tiptoes. But in no time she's in over her head with a hot architect, a new puppy and a shot at buying her dream inn. Friends Like Us is a character driven story that is both entertaining and captivating. Both Jill, Bree and the cast of characters are fun, engaging and real. When I picked this book up, I had no idea it was the second book in the Cranberry Cove series. Thankfully this did not pose a problem at all, and I found myself enmeshed in the picturesque story and in love with the characters.
This was a beautiful and cozy story about friendship, strong women, and a little bit of romance. I was able to curl up on our couch and read it in one day as I was just unable to put it down. Both Jill and Bree truly charmed me with their lives.
What really endeared this story to my heart was the way Mackenzie wrote her female characters. Jill and Bree are strong women who do not need a man to pick them up, dust them off, and help them get through life. Both women worked to build their own lives and jobs as they worked to also find their way through a lot of frustration. I was truly mesmerized by all the courageous steps they took to control their futures.
If you are looking for a truly captivating novel with a cast of extraordinary and colorful characters, along with a heartwarming storyline that deals with friendships, failures and success; secrets and lies then this book is for you!!
