One Woman’s War

One Woman’s War

One Woman’s War is an amazing story, full of mystery and intrigue. It is a story about the woman who inspired Miss Moneypenny in Ian Fleming’s James Bond books and is set against the backdrop of WWII.

What appealed to you the most in this story?

Wells has created another unique story, that like her previous book, Sisters of the Resistance, gives a voice to the less glamorous women in intelligence who still played a vital and at times dangerous role, and I was drawn into the intelligence missions and trying to figure out who double agents were. So of course, this story has a bit of a “James Bond” element to it!

How was the research?

Wells does a phenomenal job when it comes to research and looking for unique persons in history and the interesting and impactful parts they played. I definitely went down the Google rabbit hole after reading this book just so I could learn even more about these amazing women.

And the Authors Notes are an absolute must! Wells describes each person in more detail and how they are all connected with each other, as well more about "the" incident that helped Britain help win the war.

How was the pace?

The first 1/3 is a bit slow, but after that the story takes off.

Do you recommend this book?

I recommend this book to those who love Bond, Miss Moneypenny, Ian Fleming, M, ect, and you are going to love discovering the roles they played in WWII, and within MI5 and MI6.

Thank you, UpLit and William Morrow, for the gifted copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
