January Wrap Up
Hallelujah itโs finally the last day of January! This was a never ending month for us.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ฆ Iโm still trying to figure out how I got through this month. We thought it would be really fun to kick off the new year by all of us getting sick with what felt like the never ending flu. But the icing on the cake was all the snow and ice we kept getting each week. ๐ซ
The best part of our month was the home-improvement work we had done and are currently working on ourselves. We had brand new windows and a sliding glass door installed, and boy is it already making a huge difference on our heating bill.
Then, we took on painting our whole entire upstairs (including ceilings) and are in the process of installing the trim work around the windows. Swipe for pics๐
๐ถ Our sweet crew of dogs have dealt with a lot this month due to the construction and painting, but also were there to cuddle with us while we were sick.
๐With our crazy weather and having the flu I got a lot of reading in. I honestly cannot get over how amazing these books were. Itโs rare when I have multiple books in a month hit me with so much emotion and have me attached to the characters within the story.
As you know my goal is to read debut books each month and this month they were:
A Flicker in the Dark
A Brush With Love
I had several excellent buddy reads this month and loved our discussions so much!

Much Ado About Latte
Since yesterday was Sunday I have to include our Sunday night dessert. Yesterday I made Half-Baked Harvestโs Caramel Butter Cake with Gooey Fudge Frosting.
It was a huge hit and really easy to make. It was such a big head that Riggs got into it himself. As you can see from the picture he got himself up on the counter, pulled the cake towards him, and went to town.
Then, if that wasnโt enough, my husband decided to dive into the cake with a fork and not even bother to cut himself a slice. Thankfully Web got a slice before too much damage was done, and as you can see from the picture it is not only moist and delicious but an excellent looking cake!
