An Honest Lie

An Honest Lie

An Honest Lie is the perfect dark and twisted rollercoaster thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding out of your chest till the very end.

Synopsis: Lorraine—“Rainy”—lives at the top of Tiger Mountain. Remote, moody, cloistered in pine trees and fog, it’s a sanctuary, a new life. She can hide from the disturbing past she wants to forget.

If she’s allowed to.

When Rainy reluctantly agrees to a girls’ weekend in Vegas, she’s prepared for an exhausting parade of shots and slot machines. But after a wild night, her friend Braithe doesn’t come back to the hotel room.

And then Rainy gets the text message, sent from Braithe’s phone: someone has her. But Rainy is who they really want, and Rainy knows why.

What follows is a twisted, shocking journey on the knife-edge of life and death. If she wants to save Braithe—and herself—the only way is to step back into the past.

What appealed to you the most?

The suspenseful thrill ride! I love a thriller that keeps me holding my breath from the very beginning of the story, and this was a clever and unpredictable psychological thriller that kept me on edge, ratcheted up my heart rate, and guessing how it was all going to come together.

I also found myself drawn to the past timeline in the story. It was real, raw and very emotional. I’d love to tell you more about this….buuuutttt…I know you wouldn’t want me to give anything away. This really is one of those twisted thrillers where the less you know the better.

How was the pace?

Both Kaley and I flew through this unputdownable thriller! From the very beginning we were messaging each other nonstop as we read. We both had tons of opinions about the characters and situations. I’m pretty sure we both treated this one like a movie where you are yelling at the character on the screen and telling them what to do.

Do you recommend this book?

I highly recommend this book to all thriller and mystery lovers. It’s a story that sucks you in, makes you feel like you are right in the story living in a dark world with the characters, and will possibly leave you with whiplash (in such a good way).

On a side note, I do want to mention that this book deals with living in a cult and this can be hard to read at times.

Thank you HTP and Graydon House for this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
