Don't Look For Me
Holy smokes!! This story is seriously creepy, suspenseful, and gripping!
So…Funny story first:
I picked up this book and started reading it last year, and ended up putting it down because the little girl in the story, Alice, creeped me out waaay too much. Thankfully, I was able to pick up this excellent thriller again this year, since Kaley was able to read it with me and hold my hand.
Synopsis: One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life. The car abandoned miles from home. The note found at a nearby hotel. The shattered family that couldn't be put back together. It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. She doesn't want to be found. Or at least, that's the story. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?
The night Molly disappeared began with a storm, running out of gas, and a man in a truck offering her a ride to town. With him is a little girl who reminds her of the daughter she lost years ago. It feels like a sign. And Molly is overcome with the desire to be home, with her family—no matter how broken it is. She accepts the ride. But when the doors are locked shut, Molly begins to suspect she has made a terrible mistake.
When a new lead comes in after the search has ended, Molly's daughter, Nicole, begins to wonder. Nothing about her mother's disappearance makes sense.
Nicole returns to the small, desolate town where her mother was last seen to find the truth. The locals are kind and eager to help. The innkeeper. The bartender. Even the police. Until secrets begin to reveal themselves and she comes closer to the truth about that night—and the danger surrounding her.
What appealed to you most in the story?
ALL OF IT!! I’m a huge fan of Walker's psychological suspense novels. Her creativity is gripping and I am always fascinated by the intriguing plots, and boy is this plot very intriguing. Walker is an absolute genius/magician and has created an unputdownable and terrifyingly creepy novel.
This really is a unique and original story. It’s an emotional, heart wrecking, and thought provoking story. Kaley and I were constantly discussing our guesses as to who the kidnapper was and what was going to happen next.
This is also a story that deals with grief, but Walker weaves that grief with an action packed, mind bending and heart pounding, kidnapping story. It is genuinely a disturbing family drama but with a total what-the-f is going to happen next storyline.
How was the pace?
Mainly fast and at other times steady. Its a story that had me wanting to know what was going to happen next while biting my nails, and I now have no nails left!
Do you recommend this book?
YES!!! I’m pretty sure everyone has read this story by now, but if you haven’t go snag a copy of this gripping nail-biter now!
