Dream On

Dream On

Angie Hockman is back with Dream On, and it has everything - charming setting, fun characters, romance, sentiment, and emotion. I loved getting to read this book with Kaley, and as always, we had fun sharing our opinions on which characters we couldn’t stand and the ones we were falling in love with.

Synopsis: When law student Cass Walker wakes up after surviving a car accident, she is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. The only problem? Devin doesn’t exist. But everything she remembers about him feels so real, like the precise shade of his coffee-brown eyes; the texture of his favorite hand-me-down scarf; even the slightly crooked angle of his pinkie, broken after falling off a trampoline in third grade. She knows he’s a figment of her imagination—friends, family, and doctors confirm it—but she still can’t seem to get him out of her head.

So when she runs into the real Devin a year later in a Cleveland flower shop, she’s completely shocked. Even more surprising is that Devin actually believes her story, and soon they embark on a real-life romance. With her dream man by her side and an upcoming summer job at a prestigious law firm, Cass’s future seems perfect. But fate might have other plans...

What appealed to you the most in this story?

The setting and the gushable (if this isn’t a word, it is now) romance…but I’ll get to the romance part later. This charming romcom is set Cleveland, Ohio. This is what had me diving into the story with gusto, because I grew up in Ohio and we spent a lot of time in Cleveland going to Indian’s/Guardian’s games, out to eat, visiting the zoo, etc. and still go there and take my son each summer we go back home to visit. Hockman truly did an excellent job bringing Cleveland to life and the surrounding areas.

All the supporting characters were a huge part of making this story “homey”…that is not the right word because it sounds too quaint, but I really can’t think of another word right now. They all made me feel like I was part of a fun community that was there to support one another and just love life!

How was the romance?

Well…I really can’t say much, or I will just spoil it for ya, but I will say that I was hooked and loved this slow burn build up and found myself cheering not only for the romance itself but for the characters as individuals.

How was the pace?

This was a fast-paced story that I read in no time. Between Cass’s personal growth, atmosphere, and all the romantic suspense I just couldn’t leave the world Hockman had created in this fun and sweet story.

Do you recommend this book!

I do! This was just such a touching and fun story, and I’m definitely not ready to let all these characters go yet and wish there was a sequel (doubtful but a girl can dream).
