The Woman in Me

I don’t believe in rating/reviewing memoirs since this is someone telling their story while being vulnerable (everyone deserves 5 stars for that), and therefore I have no right to critique or have an opinion. Instead, I prefer to share how I felt while reading.
It’s amazing how we associate music with our memories, and Britney’s music definitely has fun memories for me. Just like the majority of the world, I became a Britney fan as soon as …Baby One More Time hit the airwaves. I have such fun memories from my freshman and sophomore years at college getting ready to go out with my roommates while jamming to her songs and singing along to them at the top of our lungs. And I’ve been jamming out to her songs ever since!
Britney’s story played out in front of the world from the minute her first single hit the airwaves. It was heartbreaking then, and I felt that same heartache coming through the pages as she finally has the chance to tell HER story. All I wanted to do was just give this woman a hug as I read. Right now I can’t even wrap my head around the strength and faith she had to get herself through everything that was thrown at her and heaped upon her. But through her story I still felt the hope Britney had as she found her real strength and voice to find her way to freedom while being vulnerable and honest about where she was mentally then and where she is mentally now.
