A Fate Inked in Blood
Bring on the forbidden love in this brand-new series full of Viking lore from Danielle L. Jensen!
What appealed to you the most in this story?
The two lead characters made this dark story what it was. Freya is just one of those characters you just cheer for and want to fight for from the very beginning, and her independence, strength and intelligence were exactly what I look for in a heroine. And BjornโฆOh Bjorn, just melted my heart with his discreate cinnamon roll ways. This man imbodies irresistible sexiness in the most endearing ways.
I also really enjoyed the easy-to-follow world building that developed as the story progressed. Plus, the layer of Norse mythology was an excellent addition.
How was the romance?
The romance was perfectly angsty, slow to build and full banter and one of my favorite tropes, forced proximity! Seriously, the sparks flew the moment Freya and Bjorn randomly met.

How was the pace?
Story alternated between a fast pace during the quests/action and then a slower pace in-between. This kinda made the story feel choppy and repetitive at times.
Do you recommend this book?
Overall, this was a fun and easy read full of magic, lore, prophesies and brutal action scenes that left me wanting Book 2 sooner rather than later. Iโm guessing that the adventures will continue with more twists!
Trigger/Possible Spoiler Alert:
The only thing that aggravates me and makes me not want to continue reading a book is animal abuse and/or animal sacrifices. I donโt know why fantasy authors are now starting to put animal sacrifices in their books frequently, but I am not a fan of it.
Thank you, Del Rey, for this gifted book in exchange for my honest opinions.
