The Ex Hex
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling is such a fun and fast paced magical romance, and the first book in a brand new witchy series!
Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.
That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.
Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.
What appealed to you most in this book?
I just loved all the characters in this story along with the witchy fall vibes and atmospheric small town setting! From the beginning I was sucked into this family of witches, and enjoyed feeling as though I was part of each of their adventures to save Graves Glen.
I also absolutely loved all the laugh out loud situations in this book! Seriously, there is just so much laughter in this book! Definitely an upbeat read.
What was the romance like?
I loved the witty and cute banter between Rhys and Vivienne. Their second chance romance had me pulling for them from the very beginning of the story.
What was the level of steam?
This is a PG rated/closed door romance.
How was the pace?
Fast! Following Vivienne and the repercussions of her drunken curse on her ex-boyfriend, Rhys, hand me engaged and flying through the pages from the very beginning. I even read this book in less than 24 hours.
Do you recommend this book?
Overall, this is a light, easy and fun romance that's just in time for Halloween. So, if you like a witty banter, and paranormal adventures, pick up this book! I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series.
