The Final Gambit

The Inheritance Games trilogy is one that definitely lives up to all the hype and is perfect if you're looking for a series/trilogy to binge read.

Kaley and I picked up this trilogy as a buddy read last winter when the first two books were already out and were hooked from the beginning. We flew through the first book, read the second book in less than 24 hours, and devoured the third book in no time! These books really have it all. There are intriguing characters, mysteries, teen angst, puzzles, and a giant mansion with hidden tunnels (I really just wanted to jump into the book just to explore the mansion) that will keep you invested and thinking from the first chapter.

I liked how in each book things are wrapped up enough so that the reader can be satisfied. However, things are also left with a bit of a cliffhanger so that the reader knows there is more to come and there are mysteries left to be solved.

As for the conclusion of the trilogy in The Final Gambit, I’m kinda torn. It didn’t come together or end in a way that I imagined it would, and the story itself felt a bit rushed. However, all the puzzles and mysteries were right on par with the pure genius of Barnes (I serious don’t know how she comes up with it all) and I felt fully immersed in the story as I flew through the pages.

If you are looking for a fun and fast paced mystery, with twist and turns galore, as well as intriguing and suspicious characters, you should definitely give this trilogy a shot!
