The Night She Disappeared

The Night She Disappeared

The Night She Disappears is an addicting story that lives in the grey area and will leave you questioning everyone.

2017: 19 year old Tallulah is going out on a date, leaving her baby with her mother, Kim.

Kim watches her daughter leave and, as late evening turns into night, which turns into early morning, she waits for her return. And waits.

The next morning, Kim phones Tallulah's friends who tell her that Tallulah was last seen heading to a party at a house in the nearby woods called Dark Place.

She never returns.

2019: Sophie is walking in the woods near the boarding school where her boyfriend has just started work as a head-teacher when she sees a note fixed to a tree.

'DIG HERE' . . .

What appealed to you the most in this book?

The mystery! The freaking mystery in this book had me hooked and trying to solve it 100% of the time. I had several good speculations and one absolutely outlandishly crazy one, but you always have to have that one crazy guess because sometimes it’s right. I read this book with Kaley, and she thinks she was the closest to solving the mystery, but I think I may have been a bit closer than her. We attempted to make a bet but it didn’t work out, so on our next thriller y’all can bet we’re going to double down!

How did the story flow with multiple POV?

There were three POV, Tallulah, Kim, and Sophie, and the story was told in several different timelines. This all flowed seamlessly and worked really well with the narrative weaving between time periods and POV. All of this combined to ramp up the tension, so as the plot becomes thicker the story becomes darker.

What were the characters like?

I’m not going to write much on this, or I will give away parts of the story…but…Each character is fleshed out and complex. Everyone seemed to have secrets to filter through, so this had my emotions to going all over the place. One minute I’m saying, “awe” and the next I’m wanting to punch them in the face!

How was the pace?

It was a slow burn, but the mystery kept me turning the pages and trying to figure out the red herrings and solve the mystery of what happened.

Do you recommend this book?

Yup! This is a well written, carefully plotted story with plenty of interesting twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the big reveal!
