The Suite Spot

The Suite Spot

Trish Doller is back with The Suite Spot, the second book in the Beck Sisters series, and it has everything - charming setting, fun characters, romance, sentiment, and emotion.

Synopsis: One of the few bright lights in Rachel Beck’s life is her job at a Miami Beach luxury hotel―until she’s fired for something she didn’t do. As a single mom, Rachel knows she needs stability, and fast. On impulse, Rachel inquires about a position at a brewery hotel on a tiny island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island. When she’s offered the job, not even the grumpy voice on the line can dissuade her from packing up her whole life and making the move.

What she finds on Kelleys Island is Mason, a handsome, reclusive man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Especially one that’s barely more than foundation and studs. It’s not the job Rachel was looking for, but Mason offers her a chance to help build a hotel―and rebuild her life―from the ground up.

What appealed to you the most in this story?

The setting and the gushable (if this isn’t a word, it is now) romance…but I’ll get to the romance part later. This charming romcom is set on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie, Ohio. This is what had me diving into the story with gusto, because I grew up in Ohio and we spent a big chunk of our weekends going to Kelley’s Island and Put In Bay (personally my favorite island on Lake Erie) and still go there and take my son each summer we go back home to visit. Doller did an excellent job bringing the Island to life and the surrounding areas, and will leave you wanting to head to the Islands for a fun vacation!

All the supporting characters were a huge part of making this story “homey”…that is not the right word because it sounds too quaint, but I really can’t think of another word right now. They all made Rachel and myself feel like we were part of a fun community that was there to support one another and just love life! They even have the coolest book club ever…seriously…I NEED a book club like this one in my life!

How was the romance?

Oh how this second chance romance was just perfect! I loved the slow build up and the perfect amount of angst. Mason is the perfect and swoon worthy male lead that will have you falling head over heels for him as soon as he is introduced.

Steam level - closed door/PG-13

How was the pace?

This was a fast-paced story that I read in less than 24 hours. Between the romance, atmosphere, and all the remolding projects I just couldn’t leave the world Doller had created in this fun and sweet story.

Do you recommend this book!

You bet your “suite” butt I do! This was just such a touching and fun story, and I’m definitely not ready to let all these characters go yet, so I’m praying for another book in this series preferably set on Kelleys Island.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press/Griffin for this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

Sunday Night

For our Sunday night family dessert and movie night, we had to go with a fast and easy dessert since we didn’t get home from baseball open gym till late (I’m the conditioning coach). We tried a 5 Minute Chocolate Cake in a Mug. Web said it was just okay. For some odd reason I wasn’t in the mood for dessert so I didn’t try any.

For the movie Web chose Spenser Confidential. It was a fast paced and funny story with some excellent star power. We both enjoyed it and recommend it!
