Underneath the Sycamore Tree
I’m a mess…a literal emotional wreck! Thank you, B. Celeste, for apologizing for turning me into a sobbing mess in the Author’s Notes. Underneath the Sycamore Tree was such an emotionally vivid story and one I’m not going to forget anytime soon.
What appealed to you the most in this story?
I loved how this book just grabbed a hold of my heart and soul. The depth, the detail, the characters were woven together in a way that makes this story raw and real. Celeste does a phenomenal job creating characters that will have you emotionally attached to them from the very beginning, and this one had me feeling the full emotional spectrum as I followed Em’s story with lupus and all those who were part of her life.
What is the difference between YA (young adult) literature and New Adult literature.
This is a New Adult literature story.
New Adult is directed towards ages 18-29 and can include “open door” romance scenes.
Young Adult is directed towards ages 12-18 and will not include “open door” romance scenes.
How was the pace?
I could not put this book down once I started it…even though it was breaking my heart at times and finished it in less than a day! It alternates between fast and steady pace.
Do you recommend this book?
You really have to read this book! Even with all the heartbreak this was still such a beautiful story that shows so much about human nature through hurt, loss, fear, acceptance and forgiveness. It is a story that will remain with me for a very long time and leave you with one heck of a book hangover. I know it is a heavy read, but please, please, please don’t let that stop you.
