When Stars Collide
Thank you William Morrow and Bibliolifestyle for having me on this tour and the gifted copy.
What an absolutely fun and bingeable book! Seriously, I couldn’t put this book down and wound up reading it in one day!
Olivia Shore, international opera superstar, is a driven diva with a passion for perfection, a craving for justice, too many secrets—and a monumental grudge against the egotistical, lowbrow jock she’s been stuck with.
It’s Mozart meets Monday Night Football as the temperamental soprano and stubborn jock embark on a nationwide tour promoting a luxury watch brand. Along the way, the combatants will engage in soul-searching and trash talk, backstage drama and, for sure, a quarterback pass. But they’ll also face trouble as threatening letters, haunting photographs, and a series of dangerous encounters complicate their lives. Is it the work of an overzealous fan or something more sinister?
When Stars Collide by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is book 9 in the Chicago Stars series, but don’t worry about having to have read the previous ones, since this book works perfectly as a standalone.
How was the romance in this story?
Oh boy was their some steam in this story! Olivia and Thad definitely brought the heat, sexual tension, and some R-rated scenes that were tastefully written. However, my favorite part of their connection was their banter which had many laugh out loud moments. They both had some excellent snarky one liners, and I’m kinda tempted to steal some and use them myself! But, this relationship wasn’t all laughs, as they also experienced very real and serious moments, along with an excellent mystery.
Was the plot appealing?
It's a classic "opposites attract" story, with a famous football quarterback and an opera star thrown together in an advertising campaign for expensive watches. The two divas (oh yes they both are) have nothing at all in common -- except that they are hugely successful "beautiful people. From here you thrown in some sexual tension, some suspense, mystery, and you have the makings for an excellent plot.
How was the pacing of this story?
I read it in one day…basically in one sitting if you aren’t counting bathroom breaks. Need I say more!?! And when you do pick this book up, don’t blame me for getting nothing done that day! Oh…and you will want to cue up some opera music to go with your reading.
Do you recommend this book?
You bet your butt I recommend this one! It is a perfect beach, poolside, or curl up in a cozy blanket read. You will loose yourself in the atmosphere, romance, adventure, and mystery from the very first chapter.
I cannot wait to go back and read the previous books in this series!
