White Smoke

Holy Smokes y’all (pun intended)!! White Smoke is a creepy YA thriller is an absolute must read, and was our Between Friends Book Club read for October. And, boy was it the perfect book for Spooktober!

I’m going to keep this review short and simple, because I know you are going to go grab this book, and it is best to go into this story not knowing too much.

What appealed to you the most in this book?

The suspense!! I loved sitting on the edge of my seat through the whole story. Jackson has written the perfect haunted house story with its own creepy twists and turns. This is definitely anything but a carbon copy of the typical haunted house based horror I've come across lately.

Also, I was surprised by the depth in this story. The plot was a lot deeper than I thought it would be, and definitely not what I was expecting. There were themes of gentrification, ostracism, addiction, and mental health among other things.

How was the pace?

FAST!! This is one of those books where you are instantly hooked from the first chapter, since I just had to keep knowing what was going to happen next. And let me just say, I was creeped out from the very beginning. This is a story that will have you questioning all things that go bump in the night, so sleep with a nightlight!

HECK YES!! Get this book now! This was my first read by Tiffany D. Jackson and I'm now an official member of her fan club!
