Itโ€™s the weekend!! Today is another chilly winter day, so Iโ€™m staying curled up at home with college football and my booksโ€ฆAnd the laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc. There are a lot of dishes after all the cooking I did yesterday too, and I have a feeling Iโ€™m going to cook up a storm again today and trash the kitchen all over again ๐Ÿ˜‚

Onto my current books:

Last night I started ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ด๐˜‚๐—ฒ and before I knew it I was over 100 pages into the book. So far itโ€™s a fun and light romcom with excellent banter while set in the 19th century. Iโ€™m easily going to finish this one today, and I canโ€™t wait to see how the romance unfolds.

I recently saw a preview for the movie ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—™๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฐ๐—ต, and was hooked, so I of course had to read the book first. Iโ€™m just in the beginning but Fletchโ€™s character is a hoot and I canโ€™t wait to see what he all gets up to.

Iโ€™m picking up ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜๐—บ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€ to read with @keepingyouonread today. Iโ€™ve been back on my WWII historical fiction kick and have heard some great things about this book!

Yesterday

I did quite a bit of cooking and trashing of my kitchen yesterday. Since our windchills were in the negatives I figured a pot roast, soup, and fresh bread would be the ticket.

For the soup I made Creamy White Chicken Chili pictured above.

I went with cooking it in the crockpot version and made the following amendments:

  • Sautรฉ the onion and poblanos before adding to the crockpot

  • Add and sautรฉ garlic to the pan of poblanos and onion one they are softened, along with spices

I made our favorite 5 Ingredient Beer Bread to go with both meals.

I just love the way our house smells when bread is baking!

We also had Kate and Riggโ€™s annual vet checkups and shots, so they were all about the snuggles with Web after we got home.
