Not the Witch You Wed

Not the Witch You Wed

April Asher’s Not the Witch You Wed is a fun, entertaining, unique, and fabulous paranormal romcom. The best part is that this is the first book in a brand-new series!

Synopsis: Magic-less witch Violet Maxwell wants nothing to do with alpha wolf shifter Lincoln Thorne—the man who broke her fragile, teenage heart. But when the two of them are forced by arcane Supernatural Laws to find mates, Violet and Lincoln agree to fake-date their way to a fake-mating in order to conjure themselves some time.

The joke’s on them. When old feelings make a reappearance—along with Violet’s magic—they both realize there’s nothing fake about their feelings. But there are old secrets and looming threats that could snatch away their happily ever after, again. One thing’s for sure: magic doesn’t make dating and love any easier.

What appealed to you the most in this story?

I haven’t read a supernatural book in a long time and this hilarious romcom was just what I needed to remind me of all the amazing things I love I about the supernatural world! There’s angst, surprises, some juicy twists and don’t forget that thin line of hate! Go and Lincoln walk that thin line but when they finally fall off truths will have to be revealed to determine if it’s a life of hate or love between the two!

Is this just “another” supernatural romcom?

No! This is such a fun, fresh, fast, and easy to read paranormal/contemporary romance that kept me engaged and laughing throughout with witty banter and fun characters.

Asher also did an amazing job including several creatures in this story (witches, shifters, wolves) and I cannot wait to read about them in the future books in this series.

How was the romance?

Lincoln and Violet have real-world problems, past and present, yet are anything but “just human”. The storyline of each figuring out their own past issues/current issues and finding one another in the mix of all of the action and family related issues kept me glued to their relatable yet unique story.

Plus this is one of my favorite tropes - fake dating!

How was the pace?

Super-fast! I binge read this book in a day, and it was so much fun! I know this is the start of a fun series because there were so many characters that captured my attention, and I honestly wasn’t ready to leave their exciting world.

Do you recommend this book?

Yes!! I really liked this fresh take, and I cannot wait for the next book in this fun series!
