Pack Up the Moon
This story is just beyond words and there is absolutely no way I can write a review to justify what an absolutely emotional, moving, and beautiful, story it was. This book seriously wrecked me.
What appealed to you the most in this story?
What got me the most was the depth of love found woven into this story in all its different forms from romantic, to familial, to found family, and more. Even the depth of love felt while reading this book is all consuming. It’s powerful, emotional, and soul wrenching. I loved it and cried through it too. I honestly cannot imagine how Higgins wrote this book without crying over her keyboard.
What did you think of the dual points of view and two timelines?
Lauren narrates her story going backwards in time. Josh shares his going forward from Lauren’s funeral. The structure is beyond brilliant for its timing and pacing, both of them providing context at just the right moments, all the while capturing the essence of grief in its unfiltered and raw form. I found myself identifying with Josh in various moments and gaining insights from Lauren as she faced her mortality.
How was the pace?
This was a story that held a steady pace, but I flew through the pages.
Do you recommend this book?
If you haven’t read it yet, you have to pick it up. Higgins crafted not only a rich and satisfying story but an amazing experience. I’m just so glad I got to buddy read it with Jenny. Grab this book, but make sure you have a box of Kleenex on hand.
