The Favor

The Favor

Nora Murphy’s The Favor is a nail biting, edge of your seat, domestic thriller debut that EVERYONE must read!

Synopsis: Staying is dangerous. Leaving could be worse.

Leah and McKenna have never met, though they have parallel lives.

They don’t—ever—find themselves in the same train carriage or meet accidentally at the gym or the coffee shop. They don’t—ever—discuss their problems and find common ground. They don’t—ever—acknowledge to each other that although their lives have all the trappings of success, wealth and happiness, they are, in fact, trapped.

Because Leah understands that what’s inside a home can be more dangerous than what’s outside. Driving past McKenna’s house one night, she sees what she knows only too well herself from her own marriage: McKenna’s “perfect” husband is not what he seems. She decides to keep an eye out for McKenna, until one night, she intervenes.

Leah and McKenna have never met. But they will.

What appealed to you the most?

I loved following the dual POV of Leah and McKenna. These women were two complete strangers, and their parallel lives intersect, and a drastic action brings them together. From the very first page I felt like I was right there living their lives and enduring everything they experienced with them - the fear was palpable, the heartbreak was real, and man was I cheering for them the whole way through.

The one thing I want the most from the trillers I read is suspense…You know…The kind that has you holding your breath and wanting to peek at later parts in the book just to make sure your favorite characters are still alive, and man did this story take the term “gripping suspense” to new levels. It ratcheted up my heartrate and I’m pretty sure I was literally gripping the book to the point of white knuckling while I read. LOVED IT!

How was the pace?

Fast! This is a story that will suck you in from the very beginning and have you flying through the pages till the very end.

Do you recommend this book?

YES! I’m still floored that this is a debut book! Nora Murphy is just a brilliant writer, and this is the perfect dark thriller that will stay with you for years to come!

A huge thank you to Minotaur books and their amazing generosity, I was able to read this with an amazing group of booksta friends. It’s the perfect book to discuss, and boy were we messaging and discussing this story nonstop as we read!
