Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my latest reads, adventures in travel, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

The Nature of Fragile Things

The Nature of Fragile Things

Thank you Berkeley Publications and Uplitreads for this gifted copy.

It’s officially winter storm season here. We ended up having to spend an extra day in Minneapolis due to a few snow storms. Of course I was prepared and brought 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 (out now in hardcover and paperback on 1/4), and flew through the pages during our snow day delay. I always enjoy Susan Meissner's books and this one was no exception.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆?

I loved the way the characters created a family even when they weren't related by blood. They were so well drawn and I found myself invested in their lives from the very beginning. My favorite was Kat. I just wanted to jump into the pages and hug her.

I also really liked how, particularly the women, formed a solidarity in the face of situations that would cause them to despair.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲?

I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen in this story! There are a large number of twists and turns, and the backdrop of 1906 San Francisco before and after the earthquake is riveting.

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸?

This is a riveting and beautiful story about resilience, love, and friendship. I highly recommend it!
