The Next Thing You Know
Jessica Strawser’s latest book, The Next Thing You Know, is an interesting and thought-provoking story that will get you thinking about your own future.
What appealed to you in this story?
Learning more about death doulas really captured my attention in this story. I had read about a death doula in a previous book, but this story went into so much more detail and how truly valuable they are.
What bothered you with this story?
This story became redundant, because the main character, Nova, was wrongly accused of something at the beginning of the story and then spent the WHOLE rest of the book trying to prove her innocence. It just became frustrating to read about, and I found myself not becoming emotionally invested in the characters and storyline.
How was the pace?
This was a slow burn story that took me quite a long time to get through. However, once the story became more interesting (at the 3/4 mark) it really took off.
Do you recommend this book?
Overall, this was an interesting story, but it just took me too long to read and when I finished, I really didn’t feel anything. However, I can see why others have really enjoyed this story and encourage you to look at more glowing reviews before making your final decision to read this one.
