Review & The Weekend
Let Us Descend is a deep, mythical, emotional and unruly story with a cast of layered and diverse characters.

I ended up going down the rabbit hole when I looked up the motivation and inspiration for Jesmyn Ward writing this story. Ward felt deeply about her past ancestors and wanted to tell more of the origin of slavery. As I read I could feel her passion poured into each of the characters she created along with all the heart in the storyline. I think this is why you can feel the savagery of it all as the story evolves.

Slow burn. The writing style was lyrical and almost poetic with itโs meandering. At times it was hard to get into because of this, and the magical realism in the second half really had me losing focus, and not enjoying the story as much.
The Weekend
Web is home for Thanksgiving break and Iโm so happy!! Itโs been over a month since Iโve seen him, so you can imagine how excited I am to have him home for a week.
Saturdayโs college football day in our house so I made up some nachos for the Ohio State game.
I used a Nacho Recipe from Half Baked Harvest but switched out the ground meat for shredded rotisserie chicken.
They came out perfectly and Web wants me to make these same ones for next weekendโs games.
Instead of the jalapeรฑo cream sauce that was in the recipe, I used a different sauce. I used the Jalapeรฑo Ranch sauce we love so much.
